Learning Targets

  • Students will be able to utilize database resources to help them find answers to their research topics.
  • Students will correctly cite their resources in MLA format.
  • Students will be able to paraphrase information from an article in a formal and understandable manner.

Project Timeline

Day 1: Preliminary Research

1. Set up Noodletools project.

2. Review databases and search terms

3. Complete half-sheet on paper.

Day 2: Finalize quotations, create in-text citations, and find pictures

1. Review outline exemplar with Ms. Engel.

2. Find your second source and add it to Noodletools.

4. Extract 3-5 quotations from your second source and put it in your Google doc you started your last class period.

5. Create a key for your in-text citations in MLA format. 

6. Review copyright-free images and find your own.

Day 3: Writing the outline

Review and continue outline.

Day 4: Finalizing chapter

Convert outline to final chapter. Be sure to include all elements, including picture, in-text citations, subheadings, and Works Cited.
