Advanced Placement English Literature & Composition is an in-depth, standards-based course, focusing on thematic units of study as in ELA 12. The curriculum comprises a variety of literary and informational text, writing for various purposes, speaking and listening, and language skills (e.g., grammar, vocabulary). Students analyze texts for key ideas and details, evaluating the author’s craft and textual structures in order to integrate ideas and details into well written texts of their own. Students take part in collaborative discussions to develop textual, visual, digital, and media literacies. This course prepares students for the AP English Literature exam.
