Research: All The Things Home > Paraphrase
Paraphrasing is using your own words when explaining information from another source.
For example, I watch an old episode of Friends and the next day, I tell Mrs. Grimaldi about the episode. "Ross bought a pair of black leather pants for a date. He went into the bathroom because his leather pants were so hot. But he could not get the pants back on." I used my way of saying what happened and not the wording used in the episode.
Let's put it in terms of this project.
Quote from a source:
"At first, Roosevelt apparently hoped that the United States could remain neutral. But with the collapse of France, American aid to Britain become imperative, for if the island nation fell, or made peace with Germany, all the world would be at risk of Nazi domination."
Paraphrase:
Roosevelt worried about the Nazis continuing to take over countries. Roosevelt did not want to enter the war but knew Britain needed support now that France was defeated.
