Staff ID#s
All staff ID numbers no longer have the 9000 placeholders in Accessit. In staff patron records, notice the patron barcode only has the staff ID # assigned by Blue Valley.
This will allow staff members to use the Kiosk by typing their BV ID# without needing the 9000.
Kiosk
Is your Kiosk not working well? Please see the information below. If those options do not fix your Kiosk, please put in a BV Care ticket. I can stop by your building to resolve the issue.
Double-scanning: Does a user have to scan the barcode twice?
If so, click Kiosk Settings (bottom right) of the app.
Enter the password: self
Make sure the Autofocus barcode field is slid On.
Click Save.
Previous checkouts: Users do not see previous checkouts.
On your computer, go to the Web App. Log in (username: CIRC password: READ24)
Click Manager Options.
Click Reset Cached Web Data.
Now, go back to your Kiosk app. Log out and restart the device.
Previous checkout information should appear.
Other Information: If students in your building type the student ID # (instead of using the library cards), you may wish to purchase a Bluetooth keypad. There are many options on Amazon. Please ensure the keypad does not require a dongle to be attached to the iPad. Here is an example of one that does not have a dongle.
Reminder: Please do not have a desktop computer facing out on the circ desk for check-out. For security reasons, IT does not want our credentials accessible to any user. The Kiosk should take the place of this need. If your Kiosk is not working correctly, let me know, and we will work to fix this.
New Features! Overdues:
When reviewing the Overdue List (Management App> Overdues > Overdue List), you can change the status of an item - Mark for Write-Off and Tag as Lost - under Actions. (When marking Lost, the item is removed from the patron's circ record, but the book/patron info goes to another location. You can still view it under that patron's cIrc record - click the Comments button.)
Middle School and Elementary School:
Para training is available via Teams next week. We sent out an email to all elementary and middle school paras via the distribution list. Please check with your paras to ensure they received this information and accepted one of the three calendar invites to training.
