Adding Audio & Music

Note: iMovie is part of the Apple iLife suite and works with other iLife applications to perform actions, such as add audio and music to an iMovie Project.

1.   Any audio or music that you wish to add to an iMovie project must be one of the following: 

  • Imported into iTunes - How to?
  • Created in GarageBand - How to?
  • Is an existing iMovie / iLife sound effect

2.   In iMovie, click on the  Music icon to show audio library.

3.   Click on the dropdown to navigate to your audio files by selecting the application (iTunes, GarageBand) or folder that contains your files. 





4.   To add audio files to your Project Timeline, click and drag the audio file into the timeline. [shown below]
 






Adding Images

Note: iMovie is part of the Apple iLife suite and works with other iLife applications to perform actions, such as add images, to an iMovie Project.

1.   Any images that you wish to add to an iMovie project must be one of the following: 

2.   In iMovie, click on the  Image icon to show image library.

3.   Click on the dropdown to navigate to your images by selecting the application (iPhoto or PhotoBooth) that contains your files. A list of images will appear in the image library window.





4.   To add images to your Project Timeline, click and drag the image into the timeline. 




5.   To edit how the image is displayed, select the image clip in the Project Timeline and click on the gear icon.

  • Select Cropping, Ken Burns & Rotation


6.   Use the image editor to adjust image effects.

  • Click Done when finished.
