“Books have wings. You can’t see them, but they are there just the same. On books’ wings, readers can soar to new places where they meet intriguing characters and experience exciting adventures.  But a book’s wings can also help a reader rise above difficult situations – like peer pressure, bullying or prejudice, or to cope with disappointment or loss.

Your Task: To pick a living author that you have already read or are willing to read. Your end product will be a media kit.

Essential Question:

What is the journey an author takes from idea to final publishing?

Project Overview:

You have just been hired by a leading publishing firm in the nation to promote an author and their book.  To make money, both the publishing firm and the author need readers to buy their books! Your job is to introduce this author to potential new readers.  You will explore-- through careful, in-depth research--what influences the author’s writing, how they develop ideas for their stories, and find notable quotes from the author that reflect their views and beliefs.  Armed with this information, you will create promotional material to create a buzz around the author and make others want to read their book. So let’s sell this thing!
