Honors English Language Arts 9, a skill-based course, focuses on the traditional elements of story and the connection of self with others. To enhance comprehension and pleasure in the sophomore year, students read a more challenging selection of novels, plays, short stories, poetry and non-fiction. Students analyze literature and poetry through expository, persuasive, and narrative writing techniques. They apply their understanding of literary terms and refine skills in vocabulary, research and conventions. This course is designed for students who have an interest in the communication arts and who want to
pursue a more rigorous curriculum in writing, reading, and critical thinking.
