Hi everyone! I hope you had a great break!
Mark books as Lost: Updated directions.
Damaged Books: Have you noticed that when you mark a book damaged, it still shows up in the Web App? We are testing a new process to ensure the books do not appear in a search. Stay tuned.
Union Catalog Updates:
Web App Search Union Catalog
In the Web App, you can choose only to search the Union Catalog. Go to Search in the menu > Union Catalog Search.
Narrow UC Search by Level
When you only want to see a certain level (elementary, middle or high), you can filter by level in the search box, and it will list any school with the level listed.
Searchable Fields in UC Search
You can search the UC by multiple fields. See the image for an example.
UC Search by Author
When searching by author in the Web App, you can (starting Monday) continue the search in the UC. Courtney Grimaldi caught this glitch, and Accessit updated it quickly.
Have you had a chance to provide feedback on the Oct/November Feedback Form? You can still do so. Click here.
We will review the feedback form over the next couple of weeks and add information here based on your responses. We also share many of your requests and frustrations with the Accessit team.
*Book Covers on Overdue Notices: Several have asked that book covers be included on the overdue notices for students. Due to copyright, Accessit is not able to provide that feature.
*Check-in Patron Information: Accessit does not retain patron data once a book is checked in. This follows proper library privacy policies. I recognize our last system did this - we will need to adjust our practices to catch damaged books before they are turned in.
*Book Covers not appearing in Kiosk App: Book covers do not show up in the Kiosk App. I will put in a feature request for this. (I was earlier thinking of the Web App - Checkout screen - my apologies.). Wrong information: A couple of responses mentioned that book covers were not appearing in the self-check app. If you entered this response or also have this issue, please submit a ticket. The app should show book covers during check out at least 90% of the time.
*Cancel ILLs: We hear your frustration with not being able to cancel an ILL. Accessit is aware, and it is in the works. Continue sending me any cancellations, and I will send them to Michael in Accessit.
*ILL Process: Sounds like we have a love/hate relationship with the ILL process. Some people love it, and some do not love it. I do not anticipate the steps changing, but little quirks will improve over time as we provide feedback. Continue to follow the steps and keep chocolate close by when frustrated.
We love how responsive Accessit can be with our suggestions and pushing out updates quickly. I will continue to send new features and updates via this blog. Reach out if you have any questions. Happy Friday!
