Happy Friday - Happy (Almost) Break! Wohoooo!!!

Online Resources/Databases Passwords:

Please avoid posting usernames and passwords for online resources/databases, such as Today's Science, Britannica, and others, on the library website.

Instead, post a password-protected document with usernames/passwords on your site.  Share one password with students.  Making the password the school mascot is an easy one to remember and promote. Directions

Secondary: Use the option above or create a password-protected LibGuide page. Directions

Quarterly Report for First Quarter is due today!

Libguides and Groups/School

Reminder to make sure your guides are placed in the assigned group under your building. When creating a guide, there is an option to select your group/building.  If a group isn't selected, it goes into the main BV Library umbrella, making it more difficult for students to navigate to other content, and you do not get “clicks” for data purposes.

Not sure if your guides are in a group? Take a look at the guide header - if it has the BV library logo, the guide is not in your building's group.

To adjust, go to the orange toolbar in editing mode - select Content > Guides.  Search by guide name.

Or you can also locate all guides that are not grouped by going to Content > Guides. Select Group > No Group Assigned. Sort by your name.

Once opened, click the pencil next to Type/Group.  Choose your building from the drop-down.

No worries if you notice you have several guides listed.  All of us (okay, maybe it's just me) have created unassigned guides and later realized it.

Among the Stars - Spreadsheet of Starred Reviewed Books

As we search for books to purchase for our collections, the Titlewave and Mackin sites allow us to filter results by starred reviews.  In addition, two librarians have curated a list of all starred reviews from many professional journals, including Horn Book, School Library Journal, Book List, Kirkus, and more. This can be another reference point when looking for titles.  Click here to view.  Notice the tabs at the bottom to adjust by year.
