3D Printed Stamp: Home

Ceramics artists mark their pieces in many different ways. Check out some of the interesting marks artists use by click on The Marks Project (Links to an external site.). You can hunt for inspiration there as well! In this assignment you will create a 3D design for a stamp to mark your ceramic pieces throughout the semester.

Assignment

To mark your ceramic pieces this semester, you will create a stamp that we will manufacture for you in the library! We will use Tinkercad to design our stamps.

Requirements:

- Create a stamp in Tinkercad that will be printed with the 3D printer

- Stamp must include your initials or name, and needs to have a vertical handle

Submit your file as an .stl using your LastName_stamp to name it

Design

  • vertical handle (make it easy to hold)
  • keep it simple
  • size: 3/4" (approx width/diameter of design to be stamped)
  • initials
  • optional: year, design element, etc.
  • emboss (raised text) by approx 1/8-1/4" tall
  • Canva can help jazz up your typeface!

    • create a small design (1"x1" works)
    • Share>download>SVG with transparent background
    • in Tinkercad import to art board and voile!

Submission

  • Make sure you have horizontally MIRRORED your initials/text
  • Group all items together (highlight or shift +)
  • EXPORT file as .STL
  • Submit to Canvas.
