What is MLA Formatting and Why is it Important?

What is the MLA Format?

The MLA format is a writing style established by the Modern Language Association that manages how we format papers, use quotations and punctuation, and guides us on how to document our sources by creating works cited pages. It is used for research papers at all levels of education.

Why Is MLA Formatting Important?

The MLA Format is important because it gives us a consistent format for writing papers. It also helps us document and cite our sources. Citing sources is important because it adds authority to our work, gives us a place to give credit to the work of others, and helps us to avoid plagiarism.
