In this class at the Intermediate Low proficiency level students learn to speak and write about extended family, homes and daily routines, and winter vacation activities. They also learn functional language to live in the French culture, such as making social invitations, going to the bank, post office and cinema. Students read for main ideas and details, guess meaning from context and make inferences in authentic French passages. Students study grammar and vocabulary and learn about Francophone culture and special events such as holiday entertaining and wedding traditions. Performance tasks are essential components of unit assessments. This class is taught in French.
