What is KU Engineering Explo?

The Engineering Expo is a provided by KU engineering students who demonstrate the projects they have created. One component of the Expo is an engineering contest.

The event occurs each year on the last Friday and Saturday in February. OTMS will attend on Thursday, February 21st, 2013.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do students compete individually or in teams?

Students can choose to either participate individually or on a team. Depending on the competition, team sizes can be a maximum of 3 or 4 students. If you have a situation where you have an odd number of students, where a student is left to work by his/herself who does not want to, please contact us, and we will figure something out!

Can students participate in more than one competition?

Yes! Students can participate in as many competitions as they would like! However, there is a limited amount of time student have to view displays from organizations and participate in competitions, so we want students to have time to experience all of Expo.

What is a "recycled material?"

A recycled material is defined as any previously used material that may or may not serve as a function different than its original purpose. Using a new material that is recyclable is not defined as using recycled materials.

Do students prepare items for competitions beforehand, or will there be supplies at Expo for the students to build with?

Students will prepare competition items beforehand, and bring them to Expo to compete with.

What other displays will be at the expo?

During the explo, 25 student groups from the School of Engineering, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics will have displays and activities.
