Essential Question: What exactly is the power of language? How is this power shown through specific examples in Born a Crime and other texts you selected?

Overview: In this unit, you have explored Born a Crime by Trevor Noah alongside various poems and texts that examine the use and impact of language. Language is a powerful tool, shaping not only how we see ourselves but also influencing relationships, communities, and even larger cultural understandings. Through this assignment, you’ll analyze the ways in which language serves as a powerful force in both literature and life. Your task is to write a literary analysis essay examining the power of language in Born a Crime and two other works: 1 another work from class, and 2 a powerful speech chosen from the list provided in this libguide. Focus on instances where language has impacted an individual, another person, or a community. Make a clear claim about the power of language and use textual evidence from each work to support your analysis

• Day 1: Introduce project/Libguide, set up Noodletools and citations, choose a powerful speech
• Day 2: Work on notecards
• Day 3: Continue working on notecards

2. Search the app library for Noodletools.
3. Click "Add."

NoodleTools Requirements:

• Make sure your project is shared with you teacher inbox (we will do this in class)
• Make sure all sources are entered into Noodletools! You should have a minimum of 3!
  • 1 - Born a Crime
  • 2 - a selected additional reading from class
  • 3 - a selected famous speech selected from the list on this libguide
• You need a minimum of 6 notecards - 2 per each source.
