Medical Rounds Brain Injury Project: Home

Congratulations! You have successfully completed medical school and are now completing a Residency in Neurology. During your first medical round, you are presented with a patient showing signs of traumatic brain injury. As a member of a medical team, you must diagnose the injuries to the patient’s brain, identify body organs/systems that might be affected, and present a digital report to the head of the neurology department.
The report will guide a meeting with the patient’s family, in which a diagnosis and prognosis will be shared.

What am I learning?
I am learning that the human body is a complex system made up of subsystems which interact to keep me alive!

Why am I learning it?
I am learning this in order to understand how my body works in order to stay healthy.

How will I know that I learned it?
I have learned it when I can show mastery of the standards through the successful completion of my project through my platform of choice!

Standards:
MS-LS1-3:
Use argument supported by evidence for how the body is a system of interacting subsystems composed of groups of cells. Emphasis is on the conceptual understanding that cells form tissues and tissues form organs specialized for particular body functions. Examples could include the interaction of subsystems within a system and the normal functioning of those systems.
MS-LS1-8:
Gather and synthesize information that sensory receptors respond to stimuli by sending messages to the brain for immediate behavior or storage as memories.
