Museum Exhibit World War II: Steps

Adams qtr 3

Exhibit set up due Wednesday, February 28th

  1. Choose a Theme or Topic: Decide on the central theme or topic of your exhibit. This could be a historical event, a cultural movement, a scientific discovery, or any subject that you find interesting and relevant.

  2. Research: Conduct thorough research on your chosen theme or topic. Gather information, artifacts, images, and any other materials that will help you tell a compelling story or convey important information to your audience.

  3. Develop a Narrative: Create a narrative structure for your exhibit. Determine how you want to present the information to visitors and what story you want to tell. Think about the beginning, middle, and end of your exhibit, and how you can engage visitors throughout their journey.

  4. Select Artifacts and Objects: Choose artifacts, objects, artworks, or other items that relate to your exhibit's theme. These could be sourced from museums, archives, private collections, or created specifically for the exhibit. Make sure to consider the significance, authenticity, and condition of each item.

  5. Design the Layout: Plan the layout of your exhibit space. Consider the flow of visitors, the placement of display cases, interactive elements, signage, and any multimedia components. Create a floor plan that optimizes space and enhances the visitor experience.

  6. Create Interpretive Materials: Develop interpretive materials to accompany your exhibit, such as labels, captions, and multimedia presentations. These should provide context, explain the significance of objects, and encourage visitor engagement and understanding.

  7. Design Graphics and Signage: Design graphics, signage, and other visual elements to enhance the aesthetic appeal and readability of your exhibit. This could include banners, posters, maps, timelines, and diagrams.

  8. Build Interactive Elements (if applicable): If your exhibit includes interactive elements such as touchscreens, audio guides, or hands-on activities, develop and integrate them into the design. Ensure they are user-friendly, accessible, and aligned with your exhibit's theme and narrative.

  9. Install the Exhibit: Install all components of your exhibit in the designated space. Pay attention to lighting, display techniques, and accessibility considerations. Test interactive elements to ensure they are functioning properly.
