Research Requirements

Notes need to focus on supporting your claim:

1. Describing the Issue

*At least one database source focused on explaining the issue

2. THREE SUBTOPICS supporting your CLAIM

This is your EVIDENCE -- paraphrased or summarized or quoted statements -- 

*Statistics or quoted statements that have specific numbers are strong pieces of evidence

Notecard Criteria:

1. You will need at least 3 notecards per source (3 subtopics).

2. Notecards need to be TITLED appropriately (ex. Issue or Subtopic) and ATTACHED to a SOURCE.

3. Summarized/Paraphrased bullets -- IN YOUR WORDS -- Summary/Paraphrase section of NC

4. At least 3 quoted sentences that support your claim. -- Direct Quote section of NC

*Statistics or quoted statements that have specific numbers are strong pieces of evidence

5. Explain how Evidence supports Claim (Reasoning) -- My Ideas section of NC
