It is the late 1800s/early 1900s and you are an innovator! You have a crazy new idea or invention and you are ready to sell it to the world.
The good news for you, is that there is a World's Fair about to happen in Chicago, where you could put your new invention on display for travelers from around the world - This is your chance to strike it big!
The challenge - there are thousands of people who are fighting for a spot to display their inventions at the Fair and YOU are in competition with ALL of them.
Your Task:
Choose if you are going to work alone or with A PARTNER - Groups CANNOT be larger than 2!
Choose 1 invention/innovation from the list on the libguide. - We will be choosing 1 at a time and once an invention has been chosen, no one else in your hour can do it.
Research your chosen topic using the resources.
Collect the following information:
What was this invention?
What was it used for?
What were all of the purposes it had - how did it benefit society?
What inventions/innovations were created using it as the basic idea/design?
What did it cost to create (money, lives resources, etc.)?
Create a "pitch" for your invention that convinces the council members that are running the fair that YOU deserve a spot to showcase. Your pitch will be presented LIVE to a panel of "judges" - imagine an episode of Shark Tank! Your pitch should include the following:
A description of the invention/innovation with images to show it in detail
A description of how it works
A description of its potential uses
A comparison for what it costs versus what it could make (its benefits)
A prediction (obviously in character it's a prediction, but you know for sure) of what inventions/innovations will exist because of what you have created
And ALL of this should be presented as a "sell" on why the fair should allow you to take a spot to show it
