The Ethics of Technology Debate

Your Social Studies Teacher will put you into collaborative groups.  You will find research to support one of the following four beliefs.

Yes.  Social Media is bad for society.

No.  Social Media is good and can be useful to society.

Yes.  Mapping technologies such as Google Earth and the usage of drones are an invasion of citizen's privacy.

No.  Mapping technologies such as Google Earth and the usage of drones are not an invasion of citizen's privacy.

Some of the articles presented are scholarly and from credible sources.  Other articles are based on organizations and institute's that share facts and opinions, but are not necessarily a scholarly source.  Some of the articles present the Pros and Cons of Social Media and Google Mapping.

Research Project:

Research and cite at least four articles per group that support your argumentative claim.  Google Docs is recommended for group collaboration, but handwritten notes will also be accepted.  Each group will have five minutes to present their facts in a debate format while other students take notes.  You will be required to write a summary report following the debate.  You may base your report supporting the topic that was given to you, or switch topics if a group changed your opinion.  You will need specific notes from the debate to back your research paper.

No. Mapping technologies such as Google Earth are not an invasion of citizen's privacy.
