Task 5: Juggling

JUGGLING! This was a common form of entertainment in the middle ages! Court jesters would juggle to impress guests at feasts and events.
YOU will learn to juggle!  Use the videos below to teach yourself how to juggle.  Then, take a video of yourself juggling.  You will upload your video to canvas so your teacher can see you juggle.

REQUIREMENTS:

-5 seconds or more: you must juggle for at least 5 seconds (meaning the juggled items must be IN THE AIR for at least 5 seconds….can’t throw them once and let them fall and call it juggling).

-3 items: you must juggle 3 items (1 or 2 in the air is NOT juggling)

-any 3 items you choose: if you can find light weight material (like the scarves in the video) – that would be great! If not, you can choose any 3 things to juggle.  HINT: Mrs. Vail and Mrs. Parker would recommend things that float, like a Kleenex tissue.  If you use 3 balls, they fall quickly.  Floating (like scarves) makes it easier to catch and throw.

***** If you don't have any scarves, 3 Kleenex/Tissues will work too!

-X pattern: you must use the X pattern as shown in the video called “Learn: Easy Scarf Juggling”

(Mrs. Vail and Mrs. Parker learned to juggle from these videos – SO YOU CAN TOO! Keep trying and don’t give up!)

Begin:  Why is Juggling important?

Task 6: Disgusting Jobs

Watch this video about disgusting jobs in the Middle Ages. WARNING: There is some blood in here.  Choose one disgusting job from the video.  You must write a paragraph about what this job entails and why it would be so disgusting to do this job.  When you are finished with your paragraph, submit it on Canvas.

Task 7: Coat of Arms

Open the directions below to create your own personalized coat of arms, like families created in the Middle Ages.  When you are finished, upload it to your teacher’s canvas page.  If you created it on paper, you can take a pic and upload that!
