English Language Arts 9, a skill-based course, focuses on themes of identity and the individual’s journey as a hero. The curriculum contains a balance of reading, writing, listening, speaking and viewing skills. For comprehension and pleasure, students read novels, plays, short stories, poetry and non-fiction. Students write narratives, poetry and exposition. The class includes the study of literary terms, vocabulary and conventions, as well as the application of research skills.
