This student is editing a video for her America Decides class. She is using a computer that will soon have Final Cut Pro software available for this type of project. The editing software is funded through the new BVEF grant the library was awarded in November.
The majority of our PLC time first semester was spent preparing and presenting to each of the PLC's at BVSW. We developed presentations and libguides for each department to support their use of complex texts. We emphasized library resources, as well as other curriculum resources available in the databases and through library services. We are very excited that every single PLC gave us the time to present, and we received very positive feedback.

The library received their second grant from the BVEF in the amount of $2,278.89! The BVEF Grant will support an ongoing effort in the BVSW Library to communicate the extensive learning occurring in the library. The grant purchased video cameras and professional video editing software for student and staff use. Our first project is a short film documenting student participation in the research process. Our hope is by capturing learning in the library we will be able to share the new face of libraries with the community and demonstrate how important they are in the 21st century school experience.
The library collaborates with teachers on numerous types of units. Most units incorporate students using the databases for research. During the first semester we focused on increasing student awareness of the strengths of the databases and how to search them appropriately. On average, each student accessed the databases 12 times and conducted 46 searches during the first semester.
Books Checked Out: 2,650
392 Classes Taught
10,821 Students Used Library Before/During/After School
On average 132 students per day used the Library!
