Persuasive Speech Research

DIRECTIONS: Once your topic is chosen, begin researching both sides of your topic. Use the sources provided to begin your research. Additional research beyond the provided sources is allowed, but not required. You must use a minimum of 5 sources. 3 from the point of view that you are arguing, 1 from the opposite point of view, and 1 more additional source. The 5th source is up to you what point of view you want it to be from. All 5 sources must be cited in NoodleTools, and you will need a notecard per each sources, so a minimum of 5 notecards.

RESEARCH REQUIREMENTS:

  • A minimum of 5 sources.
    • 3 from the point of view you are arguing.
    • 1 from the opposite point of view.
    • 1 more from either; a point of view of your choice.
  • Cite each source in NoodleTools (ALL the sources you use.)
  • Create a Notecard for each source (5 sources = 5 notecards)
  • Each notecard will need...
    • Title: Title it the title of the source you are using
    • Linked source: Link the source you are using to compete this notecard. (You have to have added this source to NoodleTool first.)
    • Direct Quotation: Copy and paste important information from the source. Look for quotes (sentences) that help support your argument or point of view. (For the source on the opposite point of view, you are looking for a quote that supports that point of view.)
    • Paraphrase or Summary: summarize into your own words the information from the direct quote section of the notecard.
    • My Ideas: Explain in your own words with original thinking here. How does this support your argument? Explain the quote in your own words. Explain if it appeals to the ethos, logos, or pathos.
